Colorful: opening

 

Quella del 3 gennaio 2019 è stata una delle inaugurazioni più difficili e belle da quando faccio questo lavoro.

The one of January 3, 2019 was one of the most difficult and beautiful inaugurations since I do this job.

Difficile per gli spostamenti: ci sono state molte ore di ritardo sia all’andata che al ritorno, a causa del maltempo. Vi dico solo il giorno dopo sono riuscita a tornare a casa alle 4 di notte…
Difficile anche per i partecipanti, in quanto un vento gelido spazzava Trapani da cima a fondo.
Nonostante tutto questo – anzi forse proprio per questi motivi – è stato un vernissage bellissimo e sicuramente indimenticabile.

Difficult for travels: there have been many hours of delay both on the outward journey and on the return due to bad weather. The day after I managed to get home at 4 am… Just to say.
Difficult even for the participants, as a cold wind swept Trapani from top to bottom.
Despite all this – indeed perhaps for these reasons – it was a beautiful and certainly unforgettable vernissage.

La Sicilia mi accoglie sempre con un calore straordinario e con un interesse per l’arte spesso molto più genuino e spontaneo di quello di tanti “salotti buoni”.
Le opere di Jane, come vedete nelle foto, si sposavano perfettamente sia con l’ambiente sobrio e delicato della galleria, sia – in senso più ampio – con il contesto siciliano, mediterraneo, solare (a parte in questa settimana), simile per tanti aspetti a quello californiano.
Non posso che dire grazie di vero cuore innanzitutto ad Antonio Sammartano, direttore dei Magazzini dell’Arte Contemporanea e a tutti i suoi collaboratori e poi a ognuna delle persone che è venuta a guardare le opere e ad ascoltarci. Grazie a chi ha saputo della mostra attraverso i giornali e anche a chi mi ha scoperto tramite Instagram.
Un’ultima cosa per chi non è riuscito a venire: la mostra rimane aperta fino al 14 gennaio, venite a vederla!

Sicily always welcomes me with an extraordinary warmth and with an interest in art, often much more genuine and spontaneous than that of many “drawing rooms”.
The works of Jane, as you can see in the photos, were perfectly matched both with the sober and delicate environment of the gallery, and – in a wider sense – with the Sicilian, Mediterranean, solar context (this week apart), similar to many aspects with the Californian one.
I can only say thank you very much first of all to Antonio Sammartano, director of the Magazzini dell’Arte Contemporanea and all his collaborators and then to each of the people who came to look at the artworks and listen to us. Thanks to those who knew about the exhibition through the newspapers and also to those who discovered me via Instagram.
One last thing for those who could not come: the exhibition remains open until January 14th, come and see it!
