Sarà perchè la mia prossima mostra tratterà di “ecologia”, sarà perchè personalmente cerco di trasformare questa da tema a stile di vita, sta di fatto che mi sono soffermata a lungo sulle immagini di Ellen Jantzen.

Maybe because my next exhibition will deal with “ecology”, maybe because I personally try to transform this issue into a lifestyle, the fact is that I have spent a long time on the images of Ellen Jantzen.

Penso che questa fotografa statunitense sia riuscita a rendere in modo molto interessante il concetto di “relazione con l’ambiente”, creando opere digitali in cui la manipolazione è evidente ma non invasiva.
Come una Fontcuberta ambientalista – che però svela l’inganno – dà spazio alle possibilità di interazione tra umano/natura e natura/natura. La realtà è un punto di partenza in cui si addentrano esseri, fisicamente ripresi in un altro luogo, ma che hanno lasciato segni della loro presenza nell’ambiente dove Jantzen li cala.
Come in un gioco di bambini, si diverte a inserire braccia, figure, alberi, montagne ed elementi grafici a foto di natura e paesaggio. C’entrerà qualcosa il fatto di essere stata (anche) giardiniera e produttrice di formaggi?

I think this American photographer succeeded in expressing a very interesting concept of “relationship with the environment”, creating digital works where the postproduction is evident, but not invasive.
As an environmentalist Fontcuberta – but which reveals the deception – she leaves space for the possibility of interaction between human/nature and nature/nature. Reality is a starting point where human beings penetrate, physically taken in another place, they left signs of their presence in the ambient where Jantzen arrange them.
As in a game of children, she amuses herself inserting: arms, figures, trees, mountains and graphic elements into photos of nature and landscape. Maybe has it to do with the fact that she was an organic gardener and a cheese-maker (also)?
